Re: People v. Jose Luis Diaz

Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that child molestation charges have been filed against Jose Diaz, a 42-year-old resident of Buellton, California. The complaint alleges that Diaz committed a violation of Penal Code section 288(c)(1), lewd act on a child aged 14 or 15 by a person 10 years older than the child, and three violations of Penal Code section 288a(b)(2), unlawful oral copulation with a minor by a person over the age of 21. The offenses are alleged to have been committed between August 2013 and November 2013 in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Arraignment is scheduled for June 4, 2014 in Santa Maria Superior Court, Department 9.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office arrested Diaz on May 7th for having sexual relations with a teenager when she was 14 and 15 years old. Diaz has been a soccer coach with the local American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) girl's league for approximately 18 years. Sheriffs are urging the community to contact them with any additional information or potential victims.
