The USS Ronald Reagan
updated: May 31, 2014, 8:59 PM

By John Palminteri

The weekend visit of the USS Ronald Reagan CVN 76 has drawn thousands of people to the Santa Barbara waterfront for a close up look and pictures. The crew of 3000 is getting a chance to come ashore and enjoy a break in Santa Barbara. Many are shopping, eating out, and touring the area from Rancho del Cielo to the Reagan Library in Simi Valley.

There have also been special receptions, and home cooked meals offered up by local residents. The ship will leave Monday morning. In mid-June it will take part in special Rim of the Pacific Navy exercise off Hawaii. Next year it will be reassigned to Japan from its current home port of San Diego.
