Eastside Power Outage
updated: May 30, 2014, 7:50 AM

By Edhat Subscribers

  • The 1500 block of Laguna and surrounding areas had two power outages last night - one at about 8pm and another about midnight. Anyone know what caused them?

  • Our power just went out on the corner of Carrillo and Laguna Streets. It looks like the whole block is without power. Construction crews put up a "construction ahead" sign about an hour ago - not sure if this is related. Does anyone have any information?

SCE posts on their website a list of "current" outages and the reason. Since it isn't current, nothing is showing. I know that didn't answer your question, but I thought that might be helpful the next time you can't go online to check to why you have no power.

Thanks 556 - I assume you meant next time you CAN go online.

556 was joking, I hope. Anyway, that comment made me chuckle.

I went out for a stroll near Olive St., during the second outage, at around 3:30am. (No midnight outage in my 'hood, but much later.) Sure is nice when all is dark and everyone else is locked away in their homes. Even the street lights cut out. The stars were resplendent and I think I got a peek at Mercury, too.

I saw a Barn owl cruising high above me and then a satellite. It's interesting to see which neighbors have solar-powered lighting.
