May 25, 2014 - Mass Murder Tragedy Rocks Isla Vista Community

On Friday evening we were shocked to read a code red reported by Roger the Scanner Guy, a drive by shooting in Isla Vista. The densely populated area with an active night life is a horrible scene for such a tragedy. As Roger reported the event from moment to moment, the entire community shuddered when hearing of multiple fatalities. As of Saturday afternoon there have been seven confirmed deaths, one being the gunman. According to law enforcement, this was a premeditated shooting spree by a "mad man." The full press release explains in detail the events that transpired.

There is a lot of national news coverage about our small town, some organizations calling it "College Town: Mass Murder." It's difficult seeing our community's tragedy repeated over and over where alleged experts analyze the situation. Edhat and the Dedicated Staff will continue to report on this horrible tragedy as details are made available.

The identities of the victims have yet to be released, but we would like to take a moment and honor the innocent lives that were taken on Friday night. It is a sad day for Isla Vista and a sad day for Santa Barbara. Show your support of Isla Vista here. Share the photo on your Facebook page and on Twitter.

Per our usual schedule, the edhat columns are posted below for lighter reading.
