Wind Woman
updated: May 23, 2014, 9:30 AM

By John Wiley

We were deep inside Lower Antelope Canyon at Page, AZ having marveled at the overwhelming array of enchanting sculpted shapes. The wonderful Native American guide had been calmly going back and forth from the front of our small awestruck group to the back, and as he passed we were admiring this eerie natural formation. He paused and asked if we saw the "Wind Woman" in it. We hadn't, but instantly did when he said it. For him it was her hair "blowing" but I now see a scarf blown across her face. I'm curious if you can see her. Even before he helped many of us find and snap especially fascinating angles, I'd taken hundreds of pix. I'd like to know what experiences other readers have had there, and to see pix you've taken. Did you see human and animal shapes as our guide does or is it more formless interactions of colors, textures, shadows and light? Even looking at this now, I can release the "Woman" and see it as the latter.
