Easton Resigns from Goleta City Council

The Goleta City Council has a vacancy with the resignation of Councilmember Ed Easton and is now accepting applications. The application can be found here. It includes questions which each candidate must respond to as part of the appointment process. Applications will be accepted through 5 p.m. on June 10.

The Council will hold a special meeting on June 12 to begin the selection process. Depending on the number of qualified candidates, the Council could choose a replacement that day. A replacement must be chosen within 60 days of the vacancy.


  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be registered to vote
  • Must reside within the City of Goleta

    Councilmember Easton resigned after purchasing a home outside of the City of Goleta.

    Councilmember Ed Easton submitted his resignation after moving out of the City of Goleta.

    He was first elected to the Goleta City Council in 2008 and re-elected in 2012. He served as mayor from December 2011-December 2012. Prior to election, he served as member of the Goleta Planning Commission, the Design Review Board, and the City of Goleta Old Town Project Advisory Committee.
