Luis Muñoz Concert Review
updated: May 22, 2014, 8:15 AM

By Edhat Subscriber

Thanks to edhat, I was able to experience and enjoy Latin Jazz composer Luis Muñoz and his band last Sunday. I am not too familiar with Jazz, but Luis and his band (Luis on drums and melodica, Dan Zimmerman on guitars, Brendan Statom on acoustic bass, and Jonathan Dane on trumpet) had me smiling with the rich textures of sound.

The band started with some light, melodic music (no drums) from the upcoming "3/4" album, then moved into more percussion-driven entries. The style of music was surprisingly (to me) varied and kept me enthralled.

It was a great afternoon of music from the grammy-award winning composer!

The brand new CD/DVD entitled "3/4" (Trio/Quartet) is almost finished. 8 songs performed either as a trio (with Dan Zimmerman on guitars and Brendan Statom on acoustic bass) or as a quartet (with the addition of Jonathan Dane on trumpet)
