Attend the Townhall Meeting

Goleta is looking for a new City Manager and your input is requested at the Townhall Meeting on Tuesday, May 20 at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers at 130 Cremona Drive, Suite B. This meeting will have a different feel as it will be more informal with the City Council listening to the conversation while the participants share their thoughts and enjoy popcorn and drinks.

During this regularly scheduled City Council meeting, Recruiter Bob Murray of Bob Murray and Associates will guide the input process with questions such as:

What are the issues, challenges and opportunities facing the community?

What characteristics (leadership style and management approach) should the next City Manager possess?

How would you like to see the City Manager interact with the community, the Council and the staff?

What background and experience do you hope this individual would bring to the job?

If you are unable to attend, you can still participate in the conversation via Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #GoletaCM. Comments posted during the meeting will be included in the discussion.

BACKGROUND: What is the job of a City Manager?

Goleta has a Manager-Council form of government. The Council is responsible for policy direction and the City Manager is responsible for the implementation of this policy by guiding the operations of the City. The City Manager essentially acts as the Chief Executive Officer and provides leadership and direction to City departments in the administration of their operations.
