Alert Contact List
updated: May 13, 2014, 8:35 PM

By Edhat Subscriber

I need advice on how to remove my cell number from the Isla Vista 911-411 alert contact list. I get a "emergency" texts quite often, at all hours. I'd like to be bothered - I don't live anywhere near I.V.

Go to the UCSB Alert web page (Google UCSB alert for the link).

At the very end of the FAQ page there are instructions for removing your number.

This is the UCSB Alert system. I do recall something about an update so you can limit the alerts you receive to those that are on-campus, versus adjacent communities as well.

My husband ended up with a cell phone number that used to belong to a college kid registered for those alerts. When he asked to be removed from the list they refused until he sent over a phone bill proving that the number belonged to him, not the student. So, um, be prepared for some hurdles coming off that list.

If the OP is the initial subscriber they should have no problem unsubscribing. Just go to the UCSB alert page & unsubscribe.
