Scanner Reports 5-9-14

By Roger the Scanner Guy

FRYday, FRYday finally FRYday. Isn't it funny how you could find something in the news to piss you off? Saw this article about a Missouri Mother whose son is a registered sex offender, her son had sex with a preteen girl she was 13, he was 16 at the time. For his punishment, he got 6 months in jail and sex offender registry for a lifetime. She thinks it's too harsh a sentence that he has to register as a sex offender the rest of his life and he can only do certain things because there are things sex offenders are not allowed to do that people who are not sex offenders can do. I agree with her that her son's sentence is too harsh; after all he and the girl were both juveniles when he had sex with her according to the news article. Then again, this is the law. Will this Missouri Mother is fighting the law not only for her son's freedom of being a registered sex offender but for the 800,000 or so other registered sex offenders in the good old US of A. She says "Millions of lives would change for the better", and an organization that is backing her wants to give Sex Offenders a second chance. I'm not a hundred percent sure if she's talking juvenile offenders or all offenders but even so every case is different. Some offenders are harsher than others. It kinda angered me that she wants to see the National Sex Registry abolished altogether. Personally I'd like to see everyone that's registered ran thru a Woodchipper but if there are cases like her son's out there I feel differently about that. After all I was a kid once and times were different back then. I was around 13, maybe 14 years old when I lost my virginity to a 16 year old girl, I never thought of her as a child molester. I'm not sure how much the law has changed but from what I've read it sounds like a lot. I was molested when I was 13 years old by a man in his 50's maybe 60's He didn't get much of me but he got enough, I don't think he was ever able to molest anyone again after that. I got molested twice in Military school, will raped in my sleep once; I was 12 and 13 then. I got raped when I was 19 and sliced a couple times I thought I was going to die when that happened and I should have NEVER reported it to the police because they treated me horribly. I got molested when I was 16 by a man in his 40's. I was a runaway I left home at 12 and never went back to this day I don't feel at home. Some days I'm a victim of rape, some days I'm a survivor of rape. I don't want to see the National Sex Registry Abolished, I don't want to see sex offenders get a second chance. They shoulda never had a first chance. I almost wish I wouldn't have read that article because now I'm committed because I'm for sex offenders being registered it makes them accountable for their actions. I think people need to see who they are especially if they are violent which many of them are. The lady has a point her son's case is different according to the article. Maybe a house cleaning is in order concerning juvenile offenders but all cases are different. Many of those offenders should be registered so the rest of us can protect our loved ones, and our children.
