May 4, 2014 - Wildlife Extravaganza

Edhat got an extra dose of wildlife this week! First there were rescued ducklings, then underwater creatures needed identifying, then we saw rescued baby quails, a mama opossum with a double litter was found, and finally, this California King snake was seen frequenting a reader's backyard. Edhatters were there to snap photos and take video of it all.

Ed wants to know who you are voting for! A few of the local races have caused quite the discussion so we decided to start a poll to see who subscribers will be voting for. Be sure to take edhat's poll for the County Elections this June.

Our Cat of the Week is Penny Lane, who loves Beatles music and wearing her white Mary Jane's. Our Dog of the Week is Augie, who works for the Specialized K-9 Services and loves the outdoors. Our Non-Profit of the Week is the San Marcos Parent-Child Workshop, a licensed, cooperative preschool and parent education class. Rosie whips up a batch of sorbet, the dedicated staff reports Santa Barbara is number five in a list of top-ten summer travel destinations, Goleta Surfing shares photos of spring greens, JW Sand shares a poem about sycamores, and Rachel Hoyt writes a poem entitled 'The Triple Standard'.

---- Edhat Stuff ----------------------------------

A little rain can go a long ways in our hills. And a lotta wind can make some surf out of nothing. We enjoy both.

EDBIT: Airbnb reveals their Top 10 Summer Travel Destinations with Santa Barbara listed as #5.

IN THE KITCHEN: As it gets hotter and hotter, try making a nice, cool treat - sorbet!

EDBIT: Who are you voting for? Take edhat's poll for the County Elections this June.

NON-PROFIT OF THE WEEK: The San Marcos Parent-Child Workshop is a licensed, cooperative preschool and parent education class.

DOG OF THE WEEK: Meet Augie, a beautiful Rottweiler who loves the outdoors.
