You may need to be more specific...there is the Sansum Cancer Center at the end of Pueblo by the 101, there is the Sansum Cancer Center at the clinic across from Cottage, and there is the cancer center on the bottom floor of Cottage (across from Sansum).

The folks are the end of Pueblo (500 block I believe) are simply wonderful...can't speak to the other two locations. Good luck, wishing your son & family the best.

My oncologist/hematologist is in private practice and is absolutely wonderful. Dr Margaret Ray. She refers to City of Hope for 2nd opinions.

My experience with the Cancer Center has been wonderful except for the having cancer part. They are the most caring and compassionate people. You son is in good hands there. I would not hesitate to take my child to the Cancer Center.

in general the cancer center is fine.

however, they misdiagnosed my son's tumor as benign....we went to Stanford to get a second opinion...just as well as Stanford correctly told us the tumor was malignant, and they treated it accordingly.

in my mind, Stanford is the all time best to handle cancer cases. my son is 10 years a survivor now.

They are all so very nice at the Cancer Center. My mother went to the one at Cottage Dr. Kass was her doctor they are all great there and comforting. The nurses are fantastic. She went for almost three years. I wish a speeding recovery and best wishes for all.
Geezersgirl is right on.

They are terrific! Gone through cancer treatments twice (1998-when the hematology docs were in the basement at Cottage, and again in 2007 after they had moved to the bottom of Pueblo.) Radiation and nuclear are still at Cottage. I continue to go every six months for follow-up. Recently, they became part of Sansum. Recommend them highly.

One would hope they are "nice". When one enters that God forsaken world of cancer one needs a lot of nice and very little brusqueness.

However, I would take a massive dose of efficiency and accurate diagnosis over an overdose of warm and fuzzy nice.

Second opinions are definitely advisable for the peace of mind.

Dr. Woliver is wonderful. He's treated one of my family members for over 15 years and has always been thorough, professional, kind, compassionate, encouraging, willing to work with patients and other doctors, and stays on top of the latest developments in treatment.

The nurses inside, where you get treatment, are wonderful, but the office front desk is a little lacking. Quite a few mistakes made, which was very frustrating to say the least. I just loved the one comment they made, after a drug switch by accident.... She said... "Well, mistakes will be made. Oh well!!! " .... That's when I lost it and got a little angry and told her there is absolutely NO excuse for that mistake.... etc. And, Ms. Sweet, seemed to be out of touch with the case before her and was doing a little jibberish.... waste of time talking with her.

The was the Cancer center at the Pueblo frwy exit

I would avoid Gupta. We had very unsatisfactory experiences with him. Wishing you the very best and a full recovery.

I will second the praise for Saint Woliver. My mom loved him and his manner so much. she was diagnosed as late fourth stage metastisized Breast Cancer and given Three months to live. His management of her cancer gave her almost four years. In that time she set my dad up financially for life. He and the center and all of the staff are fantastic.

Dr Daniel Greenwald is great. Extremely knowledgeable and always willing to listen. He has a calm and caring bedside manner and I would recommend him highly. He is located at the Sansum Cancer Center near the 101 Freeway.

My son, who was diagnosed with cancer in January is being treated at the cancer center by Dr. Kass, who is amazing. We went to meet with Dr.'s ay UCLA and UCSF, and decided we liked Kass the very best. Always get second opinions. The girls at the front desk are lame and so is the nutritionist. Also met Gupta who we totally agree with the other comment, avoid him. I have found through this experience you have to be on top of everything every step of the way, even with your Dr. Maybe we need to start a support group for parents of children with cancer?

Dr. Woliver treated my breast cancer with chemo
& radiation. All's well now.
Now Dr. Woliver is treating my husband after
pancreatic cancer surgery. He is a wonderful man and if you need to trust
an oncologist, he's the guy.

My husband saw Dr. Margaret Ray (not at Cancer Ctr... office in Goleta) for his cancer. She's a hematologist too. She's a compassionate, creative doctor! A bit of a mad scientist at times, but that's why we loved her!
