Planning Commission Public Hearing: The Planning Commission will consider initiation of a
Amendment to update the Housing Element of the City's General Plan in accordance with State Housing
Housing Elements are required to be updated at least every five years with mandatory review and
by the State Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD). The Housing Element Update will
address the City's 2015-2023 planning period, and will be prepared in compliance with State law, including
analysis of existing and projected community housing needs and identification of goals, policies and quantified
objectives to meet those needs.
This update is required due to legislative changes associated with the adoption of the
Strategy (SCS) and a new 8-year planning period. Because the City's Housing Element was recently certified
in 2012, substantial policy changes are not proposed. It is primarily an update of housing information as
required by State law.
