The Caverns: Local Must-See Band

This past Saturday I met up with friends at Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company in the Funk Zone for a
small birthday celebration (Happy birthday Jenn!). We were sitting on the patio when I heard a band
starting to play inside. This wasn't just your typical bar band, I heard some legitimate shredding going on
while more and more people gathered around the door to get a glimpse.
When I heard the iconic chords of my favorite Led Zeppelin tune, the Lemon Song, I forced my friends to
join me inside. Named The Caverns the band is formed by three teenagers with two currently enrolled in
Dos Pueblos High School. 19-year-old Sam Kulchin on guitar and vocals, 17-year-old Maxton Schulte on
drums and vocals, and 17-year-old Alyssa Davey on bass and vocals.
This trio had the crowd up and moving within minutes. They played all the classic rock favorites by
Santana, Steve Miller Band, Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Allman Brothers, Pink Floyd, and even a
few original songs. Everyone was in awe of their talent and skill. During one of their original jam sessions,
all three members traded instruments and equally rocked out. The Caverns have talent beyond belief, you
won't believe they're only in their teens.
I moved closer to the band to get a better video and starting talking to the bassist's father, Paul Davey. He
informed me that all three met at the local Rockshop Academy and formed this band together. They have a
set schedule to play most Saturday afternoons at Figueroa Mountain Brewing.
The Caverns is the best local band you should be watching on Saturdays. Learn more about them at Facebook.com/TheCavernsOfficial
