Gusty Winds and Potential Rain Expected

GUSTY WINDS, POTENTIAL RAIN, AND MOUNTAIN SNOW EXPECTED LATER TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING..

This email is intended for critical weather partners in Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties.

MAIN IMPACTS

• - DAMAGING WINDS EXPECTED ACROSS THE WESTERN ANTELOPE VALLEY o West to northwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 65 mph late tonight and Saturday. There will be local blowing dust and sand which will reduce visibility to a quarter mile or less at times.

• -DANGEROUS WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS IN THE MOUNTAINS AND POSSIBLY ACROSS PORTIONS OF INTERSTATE 5 NEAR THE GRAPEVINE. o Snow accumulations 3 to 6 inches above 5500 ft. 1-3 inches between 4500 and 5500 ft. Local accumulations around 1 inch at 4000 ft which could affect the Grapevine.

SYNOPSIS

A fast moving frontal system will bring rain showers, with snow showers in the mountains late this afternoon through tonight. Snow showers will linger along northern slopes of the Ventura and Los Angeles county mountains through Saturday morning. Strong and gusty winds will develop across the mountains and Antelope Valley ahead of the front today...then increase behind the front late tonight.

TIMING

Gusty winds from late this afternoon through Saturday evening for the Antelope Valley and Los Angeles and Ventura county mountains. Snow from this evening through Saturday morning. Snow level starting out at 6000 ft this evening...then lowering to between 4000 and 4500 ft by late tonight into Saturday morning.
