Sheriff Debate on Wednesday
updated: Apr 22, 2014, 11:50 AM

By Edhat Subscriber

I heard that Bill Brown and Sandra Brown will face off in a Sheriff's race debate tomorrow (Wednesday) evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Goleta Valley Community Center. I can't attend but am very interested in what they have to say. Does anyone know if this debate will be streaming online anywhere?

Public Access maybe??? I don't think there is live streaming for these small events.

I might go. Will they be serving mimosas, or is that only during work hours?

That's cute, like Bill Brown actually cares. What he really cares about is buying this election so he can put his name over the door of a jail.

059 for the early win.

No fooling. Billy Baby wants this election more than anything.

You better believe he's working 100% on the taxpayers' dime to see to it.

I wonder how many minutes from each of his contracted works days go to personal election business? I'm talking ANY: Phone calls, texts, media contacts, meals with supporters & donors, etc.

Is it legal? Does it happen?

Vote for Sandra! She supports concealed carry.

Sandra is absolutely getting my vote.

I've had enough of Brown's handling of the department. Good bye!

Am not voting for either one. It's time for a change, I don't know much about Sandra. To bad Arnoldi isn't running again, I think that he would have a big chance of winning this time. I hope others will do what am going to do, hand write Lt. Ugo "Butch" Arnoldi's name on the ballot for Sheriff. He has been in the Sheriff's Department for many years.. Never heard anyone say a bad thing about him. He is a dedicated law enforcement officer who knows just about everything on how to run the department. It's a long shot but you never know how the public will vote.

108, you will be wasting your vote. If you want change vote for Sandra. Anything else will be an assured win for Bill Brown.

Bill Browns time is up. Vote for a women this time...

I'm enjoying the "Vote for Sandra" stuff.

Maybe people who don't know better would vote for someone who didn't even think enough of the department that she wouldn't even take the test for lieutenant.

Maybe those same people would vote for someone who doesn't support her own department members by not sending her coroners out despite department policy saying she should, and the staffing on patrol absolutely needing it. I'm sure she thinks she knows best.

I could go on. But why bother?

I agree with 108. Butch for Sheriff.

OP, I searched "santa barbara sheriff debate televised" and "santa barbara sheriff debate television" and got zero information. Of course you probably did the same

searched "santa barbara public television" that doesn't look promising either. SB Community TV is City. Would that preclude them from showing it? I saw no mention of it and found no direct contact phone #

But what about the "wasted vote" issue?! I agree the rotten problem is voting for the lesser of 2 evils. It's a great idea, but I doubt Butch will win. Then we probably/likely have Bill again. (Even though I think he may well win regardless). I hate these choices, but do intend to vote against Bill. At least that too is sending a message. I've struggled with the conundrum of 3rd party voting for decades.

I just posted and must add I'm not sure Sandra is well qualified. It would be a protest vote on my part. So why not Butch? Aaaarrrgggghhhhh!

I try to really think about all elections, I've always researched and read. And I rarely come up with good answers, though some are clear to me. At least I've never skipped voting in an election.

OP, when, where and how did you hear about the debate? Anyone else know?

I need proof the debate is happening. I find nothing about it when I search online. I just searched KEYT, Noozhawk and the Independent, along with Google searches.
I'm so gullible.

If Sandra was a Lieutenant, Bill Brown could fire her. He can't fire a Sergeant. If Arnoldi or Patterson would have run, Sandra would have supported them and not run. She said that a year ago.
She's become a very tough candidate. A lot of people are going to be surprised.

After watching part of the debate still not voting for either one. All they do is bash each other one thinks only of the North jail that is all you hear about the other just does not impress me at all. My vote is still going to be a write in Lt. Ugo "Butch" Arnoldi. It's a long shot but hey it's time for a change.
