That impact caused the vehicle to flip over on its roof ultimately coming to a stop blocking the southbound #2 lane, with the front of the Mazda facing the center divide.

Seconds later, a 2013 white Ford Mustang, driven by a Santa Barbara woman traveling southbound in the #2 lane, collided into the red Mazda. The front of the Ford collided into the left side of the Mazda causing two people in the Mazda to be ejected. That collision caused both vehicles to end up between the #1 and #2 lanes where they came to rest. The driver of the Ford was arrested for DUI and booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail Facility. At this point there are 3 fatalities and 1 in critical condition at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

This is an ongoing investigation and all other party information will not be released at this time. Questions regarding this collision should be directed to Officer Jonathan Gutierrez, Santa Barbara Area Public Information Officer.
