Looking for Vintage Cars
updated: Apr 18, 2014, 9:17 AM

By Edhat Subscriber

I'm looking for two cars, a 1922 Essex and a 1953 El Dorado I need to film for a car show. Would anyone if either model is in the Santa Barbara area? Thanks!

Check with Goodman Reed Motorcars, and the Hangar.

I don't know for sure but there used to be a vintage car storage maybe a showcase in the Funkzone where the Art Foundry is or near it.

I helped export a '53 Eldo to Norway. A friend looked all over the U.S. for vintage Caddy's and didn't believe me when I told him there was one in that day's local paper. Once he was convinced I wasn't kidding, he dropped everything he was doing and drove up to Paso Robles that day and bought it. Being a convertible, it had seen a lot of weather and the interior and floor pan was in pretty rough shape. I do have a few pictures of the beast on a trailer.

I think there's a '56 in town though.

Those are rare cars, you'll probably have to expand your search to SLO, Ventura, and LA

Have you ever heard of Hemming's Motor News...? The internet has about 4500 classic-car-for-sale websites... I don't think Edhat is the way to seriously seek out a classic vehicle(s)...

Well, Mista, it doesn't hurt to ask while the OP is exploring other avenues!

@892 - actually with the relative diversity and active participation, EdHat is one of the best places to ask any question!

There's a branch of the AACA here in Santa Barbara that meets at Harry's once or twice a month. They always donate their time to bring their classic cars to the Kids Helping Kids concerts. That would be good to look into. Mr. Dana Newquist is the president of this branch-not sure if he still is, but he was as of last year..

I had three sitting in my garage, but I needed money for donuts and sold them to the scrapyard.

075, Cars and Coffee is not on Old Coast Highway. They meet Sunday mornings from 8-10 on Coast Village Rd, with the exception of the last Sunday of the month when they meet at the Upper Village instead.

Perhaps technically Coast Village Rd. Is part of the "old coast highway" but if one is dispensing information to others on Edhat in an effort to be helpful, one should be specific.

The street named Old Coast Highway runs between Salinas St. and Hot Springs Rd.
