Board Game Space
updated: Apr 14, 2014, 11:15 AM

I am looking for referrals for places in Santa Barbara that has a great space to play board games for a big social group (15+) people. It can be a place of business or a public space. Looking for a living room/lounge like setting or patio like area. I have some ideas but maybe locals know more of hidden gems or business that are friendly with group events.

Thank you!

It would help to know if these gatherings will be in the evenings or weekends, or during normal work days, and what age the members of the group might be. Lots of churches have meeting rooms with tables and chairs that can be rented on various week nights. Ditto for schools, the public library...

Moby Dick out on the wharf has a great room that they let groups use. Might have to buy a little food though.

Unless you want to be smoked out by cigs, I'd stay away from Elsie's. There isn't enough room in their front room for 15+ people, so they only other area would be out on their smokey patio.

Santa Barbara Main Library, in the art room off the main gallery. You'd have to keep the noise down to a minimum, though. Free.

Mosher Alumni House at UCSB has some great rooms with views and/or balconies. Some have couches. The small building at chase palm park (oceanside of cabrillo) is a nice space with a patio. No couches though.
