I would assume the building is for sale. Not the church.

Too big a money maker to sell, must just be the building

That place is more creepy than anything downtown.

Oh no don't offend them or they'll come after you! Those Dateline specials about it are freaky.

Google "Scientology vs the Internet"

Spiritual and philosophical beliefs should be kept private - what you believe is your business - it is quite wrong to foist your beliefs on others - I don't think Scentology got the memo about that. On avoid status....forever.

After reading the book Going Clear... I'll never make another snarky remark about Scientology while anywhere near that building. I might disappear in the night and end up in "the hole".

I lost a good friend to the Dark Side, er, um, I mean Dianetics.

Bob & Trish Duggan are billionaires who used to live at Hope Ranch. They have donated a couple hundred million to Scientology and are their largest ever donors. They will probably buy the building and pay to have it remodeled into what Scientology calls an "Ideal Org". The Duggan's have been doing this all over the world for Scientology.

Maybe the building owners were too wealthy and the "church" convinced them to sell it and give the money to them in exchange for several free sessions on the lie detector to "clear" their bad vibes and the evils of having so much money.

I once did some interviews inside that building when it was an old residential hotel filled with characters out of an Elmore Leonard book or a Tom Waits song. For years I have been wishing for someone to turn back the clock and kick out the Scientologists and return it to sleeze. It had a big staircase up to a mezzanine floor that had a rail and aisle that ran all around the sides, like an old western saloon advertising ladies upstairs, which for all I know it once was.

A number of years ago, an acquaintance of mine (in his early 20s) was scammed out of $thousands - borrowed from his parents - by this fraudulent organization. He invested in their patented electronic devices including an "E-Machine", which is nothing more than a repackaged "wheatstone bridge" ohmmeter. This is a simple circuit which could be built by any electronics amateur with a few dollars worth of components from Radio Shack with a basic knowledge in electronics and the ability to wield a soldering iron.

What a crock. It is amazing the extent to which people can be separated from their common sense - especially in the last 12.5 years.

073. I read it too and I'm with you. I worked for a couple of Scientologists in the Bay Area and had to Dianetics courses to be their employee. The commmunications course was good but it is all about controlling others to get them in the Church. I still can't get off of their mailing list.

I remember taking the personality test at the Scientology center at State and De la Guerra in the early 70's. Pinkberry is there now.

It's a very high profile location. As a Church of Scientology it gives the tourists something to laugh at.
