Roger Aceves Questions Timing of SEIU Contributions and Voting on Contract
Timeline raises ethical questions about pay-to-play votes
SANTA BARBARA, CA - Roger Aceves, candidate for 2nd District Supervisor, questioned the timing of recent contributions to his opponent by SEIU 620
Local and their statewide organization in light of recent votes to approve stalled employment contracts.
The details are attached.
“As a former police officer, I have a history of investigating suspicious circumstances and timelines. When campaign finance reports came out recently, I
reviewed the reports and found something that did not pass the ethical test. There was not just one but two instances of potential conflicts where my opponent
has taken funding from those whose contracts she approves, both immediately before and after the vote.” said Aceves.
“Taxpayers have the right to know if something illegal or unethical was done in regards to these votes and contributions. If there is a pay-to-play system
going on here, we all have a right to know. The Fair Political Practices Commission is clear that in Government Code 84308 in that candidates must disclose
contributions before they vote. The FPPC must investigate this breach of trust.”
