Just headed back to base, they cruised by here in Carp shortly there after. Happens regularly, standard travel nothing out of the ordinary.

They flew over San Roque a few minutes ago leaving us all to wonder what it was, so thanks for filling me in. And to all the smart asses who responded to the query, we aren't the dumb ones for asking, you are by virtue of your responses. I remember when this used to be a place one could go to to get details of something concerning us, or as a as source of interest to many.

I think what is missed is the fact that 90% of the posts arent about the helicopters.

This isnt your soapbox, get off it. Stop clogging up topics with your anti government ramblings. You guys can have a get together where you babble about whos fault it is this day, and give absolutely no good input on making it better. Stop using this site for it.

Chinooks are cool! And Russia doesn't use them, they have their own choppers.

They were very low when they flew over the La Cumbre area, I thought they were about to land. They were on the mountain side and not following the usual flight path to Cottage.

Maybe they're loading up for the big standoff at the Bundy Ranch in Nevada; the feds already sent an Apache there today.

The helicopters were not CH-47 Chinooks. They were CH-46 Sea Knights, a smaller helicopter flown by the Navy/Marine Corps.
