Playground Sierra Club Hike Photos!
updated: Apr 09, 2014, 1:21 PM

By Robert Bernstein

Once again the Playground on West Camino Cielo was the playground for the Sierra Club hikers on Sunday. Our adventure included the famous Caves and Narrows. We had 19 people of widely varied ages and abilities. It was a perfect day!

Here are my photos!

Most of the group stayed together, but it was quite a surprise at times to look up and to see one of the hikers appear on a distant peak or pinnacle! I let people know that was OK as long as they stayed in earshot and stayed in their confidence range for safety. Some of their feats were quite impressive, way outside my own confidence range!

People also gave each other a hand in difficult spots that required an extra push or pull.

One thing to be aware of in this season and on into the fall: You can get dehydrated very quickly is such open, exposed rocky areas. It does not have to be hot to lose a lot of water when hiking on exposed rock faces like the Playground. Not only is it important to bring a lot of water. It is also important to remember to drink it!

Fortunately, our group was well prepared and everyone had a good time!
