The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors will meet April 7th, 8th and 9th to conduct workshops on its FY 2014-16 preliminary operating plan and budget for the coming fiscal year. The three day workshop will provide the Board of Supervisors and county residents a department-by-department review of this year's accomplishments, program objectives for the coming year, their expected revenues and expenses and performance measures. The purpose of the April Budget Workshops is to provide the Board of Supervisors and the public with information early enough in the budget development process to provide input before the budget is adopted in June.
"This is an opportunity to provide the Board and public with a preview of how we propose to spend our resources in the next year, with greater detailed to be provided in the Recommended Budget released in May," said County Executive Officer Mona Miyasato. Continuing, Miyasato stated, "Providing information earlier increases informed discussion and provides a better process, which the Board has been requesting."
The April Budget Workshops will provide opportunities for residents to provide public comment on the departmental proposals. Board sessions will begin each day at 9:00AM and testimony can be provided at 105 East Anapamu Street in Santa Barbara in the Fourth Floor Hearing Room or via video conference from the Betteravia Government Center at 511 East Lakeside Parkway in Santa Maria.
