Scanner Reports 4-2-14
updated: Apr 02, 2014, 7:00 AM

By Roger the Scanner Guy

It's Wednesday, Happy Hump Day! The otter day I was coming back from Trader Joe's, my usual cart filled to the brim with groceries. I live right around the corner and always usually ask permission to take a cart. I unloaded and started to take the cart back when I spied the old SBPD pickup truck in the parking lot next door, I couldn't believe it! The Fuzz followed me home and now they was gonna give me a ticket for taking the cart, but I had permission! Maybe if I don't look at them, act like I can't see them they will let me go by. Yea right they were going to give me a ticket I knew it and if I protest by saying something like "I have permission" they are going to 5150 me and that will be it. As I passed them I pointed toward Trader Joes and smiled saying "I'm taking the cart back" I then continued on walking as fast as I could away from them. At my age I walk just a hair quicker than a Desert Turtle. They didn't give chase Thank Dog! Because I'd hate to have to try and outrun the police.

I took the cart back and continued on my way to Carls, I love Carls Jr. I like their commercials too! Got a burger for me and Balistic Belinda then headed back to the old Homestead. About halfway back I ran into an old friend of mine Marcos and he says to me, "I just saw a bunch of cops go up your driveway...What did you do?" "Me nuthin," I says, "I just took the grocery cart back! What they want with an old guy using a grocery cart?" I thought out loud. Looking down the street in front of my house sure enough there were a couple guys standing out front. As I approached they started walking away, one bending down to tie his shoe which looked tied up to me. "Are you guys looking for me?" I asked walking up. I pulled out my portable scanner at the same time and looked like an idiot. "No, one said looking for a girl with short brown hair." "Balistic Belinda? Noooooooooo" I ran over to Belindas house she was just sitting there "Shut your door and lock it cops are looking for you" I whispered kinda loud. She says "Not me someone else." It was someone else, it wasn't me or Balistic Belinda and that's a miracle, a good one. It's too bad it was anyone but I'm glad it wasn't us. I was sitting there trying to figure out what the hell I done wrong. I'm sure I do things once in awhile without thinking about it, cross the street in the middle of the block when no ones around, things like that. I haven't intentionally got into trouble for many years and I don't plan on it. Of course I guess if it was Belinda and I warned her I might get in alittle trouble for that heeheehee..Oh Well..Funny thing I get the feeling if I was wanted by the police they wouldn't want me anyway and that's fine by me. When they took the wanted suspect away I noticed they were driving away in one of my favorite cars the waffle caged car Damn! I forgot to pick up waffles at Trader Joes dripping with raseberry syrup! Now I'm hungry, I gotta go back get waffles the sugar free ones of course, wouldn't want my doctor to think I'm eating sugar, sugars no good for ya.

I'll tell you this weather has my arthritis hurting like HELL I can hardly move I hurt so damn bad I wish there was some pain killer out there I could take without screwing up other parts of my body. No wonder why theres so many old alcoholics out there on the streets I don't blame them one bit! I woke up the other night both arms numb and my shoulder and neck hurting like hell thought I got bit again. Someone mentioned a lot of bugs out there, more than usual probably because of the drought. I hope the bugs go away I got a couple flea bites too, don't want no more of that. We're probably going to have a lot of West Nile this year with a lot of other diseases involving bug bites, lyme disease etc.

I knew a guy once who OD'd on alcohol across the street, he shotgunned most of a quart of Vodka then dropped and went code blue. He was a homeless fella that just about everyone in the neighborhood knew and loved. There must have been a hundred of us standing there praying that the Firemen and Medics would save him. I even saw a little child do the sign of the cross and pray for this guy it was amazing cops were even crying. I thought for sure the guy was gone but they bought him back to life and a couple days later he was right back out there drinking. That was many years ago, today he is Clean and Sober and works with the Homeless. I'm not going to identify him he knows who he is..When I heard the O.D. of the 17 year old girl with difficulty breathing I thought of him I hope that little gal pulls through and stays away from the sauce. Some of us start drinking and we don't know how to stop it's tragic to watch someone kill themselves drinking..

Will That's enough outta me for now Have a Great Hump Day and Doggie Willing We Will See You on FRYday. Later, Roger
