Westside Gunshot
updated: Mar 30, 2014, 9:14 AM

By Edhat Subscriber

Sounds like there was a loud gunshot on the Westside sometime around 11:00 PM. People on Islay, Gillespie, Valerio, Alberta heard it. Does anyone know what is going on?

I definitely heard it and I live closer to State on W. Sola. Sounded like a shotgun, I grew up around them and it definitely sounded like that. Wasn't a car backfiring, wasn't a firework.

I was in the Mission/Castillo intersection heading toward the freeway and it was loud and clear.

Heard it crystal clear around Islay/chapala area. Pretty unsettling.

Hope it wasn't being used out if necessity, and if it was not being used out of necessity then we have a very unresponsible shotgun owner in our area.

I heard it too. At first I thought that maybe it was fireworks, but there was only one VERY LOUD bang. Then I thought maybe it was a gun. I didn't grow up around guns, but my friend thought it sounded like a shotgun or fireworks, but he couldn't tell me for sure. I hope it wasn't a gun for goodness sakes, My first reaction was to slump down in my couch in case it was a gun shot. Roger, did you hear anything on your scanner about gun shots late last night?

We live on the Westside. It was an old truck backfiring.

Live right where it happened, we thought fireworks and heard a car engine also, probably just a backfire, but yes it was loud.

Probably idiots throwing fireworks in their buddie's truckbed as they left, not cool guys, stop the fireworks before you start a fire and someone gets hurt!
