updated: Mar 28, 2014, 4:17 PM

For my artwork, I'm looking for affordable plexiglass in SB, where it could be cut to specific sizes also.

Home Depot has plexiglass. Don't know if they cut it.

Ace Hardware cut 3 huge sheets of Plexiglas for me. (I use it to cover my door as the dogs jump up on the one I enter through coming home). Very nice and accommodating staff, though it's best to ask for help on something like his when they're less busy, say the middle of a work day. A whole sheet is something under $80.00 and only $1.00 per cut.

If you buy from someplace other than a framing shop, be sure to ask about the thickness. You don't need very thick for small art works, so a home improvement place may have what you need. However, you may need to go to a framing shop for the thickness needed for large works. If so, I'd check prices with The Frameworks, Art Essentials, or Aaron Brothers. I haven't bought from A&B Glass, so I can't comment on them. I've used OSH for smaller pieces; they cut for free. I use Frameworks for most of my large pieces.

Will Lexan do for your purposes? If so OSH hardware in Goleta has it. I don't know if they cut it, but they have lots of precut pieces under $5.

OMG,

Santa Barbara Home Improvement has all kinds of sizes of plexiglass and lexan and will custom cut any size you want even up to 6".
