Stoked on a Stoat

What I thought was a ferret in our back yard has turned out to be a stoat. We live off Rhoads Ave by Rhoads Park. I captured photos and took a drive to the Wildlife Care Network to see if there was something I could do...trap it perhaps. I was worried with all the neighborhood gophers that it would be poisoned by bait dropping tenants living next door. I figured it had been a pet abandoned or lost and to my surprise and delight of the WCN staff the stout is a relative of the weasel, ferret, badger and otter. It is wild and protected by law. It's cute face and small size hide a carnivorous rodent and rabbit eating machine. It was hanging out by our guinea hutch, but I think it will have a better time at tunneling for gophers. Staff also shared that where there is one...there are more. Sweet!
