Scanner Reports 3-24-14
updated: Mar 24, 2014, 7:00 AM

By Roger the Scanner Guy

Monday-Monday. How are you? I hope well. As for me, UGH. This reminds me of when I got here I used to sleep outside and work spot labor at the employment office. I got one job cleaning up a house after a fire. I had to walk back and forth on a plank from the top of the house to a big dumpster dumping what was left of the roof. I got 3 bucks an hour and ash all over me working all day every day for 7 days solid; 210 bucks. I got no shower, each day I'd go to a Laundromat on Carrillo and wash up in the bathroom just my face and hands. After that job I took another one, me and another guy, 5 Bucks an hour to chop out a road with machetes on a hillside in the hills of Montecito near an avocado orchard. We both got Poison Oak no shower just washed up with a hose 2 weeks of work. I got poison oak head to toe mixed with the burnt ash I ended up with some weird skin infection and got real sick, ending up at Cottage. They wanted me to stay inside somewhere but I had nowhere to go. The Salvation Army volunteered to take me in for a week. I was bathed and delivered to the Salvation Army and spent a week there sleeping mostly. I had poison oak everywhere on my body including around my eyes.

This experience with shingles reminds me of that. My mom tells me I had shingles as a kid I can't remember but I know I've had this pain before so maybe I've had shingles without even knowing it. I have to take 5 horse pills a day; they make me feel scrappy. Belinda won't come near me she feels as though she will be infected even though she has had chicken pox that's pretty funny she sure ain't afraid of alcohol. I hope I kick this scrap soon I'm running low on provisions, supposed to see my doctor in a couple days but don't think I'll be able to walk up there.

Flashback Dog Town and the Z Boys, a small group of skate boarders was coming around the corner at Cacique and Milpas and almost slammed into the wall, me. It was really entertaining to see the looks on their little daredevil faces when they blindly flew around the corner and saw me they were not expecting that at all - heeheehee.

I must admit I haven't been totally listening to the scanner all the time being ill and all but it seems like the times I did listen this weekend I heard a lot of stuff going on. As far as people panhandling aggressively, stealing, drinking and intimidating passersby, even a gang of thugs going after people near the wharf. I heard behind Cost Plus in the 600 Block of State there was a 415 Fight like 2 males involved police thought there might be more than two people involved. Really not sure how many people were involved but someone had a leg injury and code 2 Medics were requested. At Rite Aid on South Milpas Subjects associated with a grey 2003 Honda attempted to steal a lot of merchandise and were caught by a female clerk, they escaped with the help of other thugs associated with a black Chevy Silverado those thugs threatened the clerk both vehicles were gone by the time police arrived but a DMV check of the license plates revealed both vehicles were registered out of town possibly in the Los Angeles Area. For a while on Saturday night there were so many calls coming in I got confused and took a break. While the shingles have slowed me down a little bit I'm still doing the job. I really need an office chair right now, so if you know of a strong old office chair that needs a home feel free to dump it here with me. Thank You.
