Jury Duty Fail
updated: Mar 21, 2014, 11:15 AM

By an edhat Subscriber

I've been on call for jury duty at SB County Superior Court all week. I called the computer voice last night and it said to come in Friday morning. Arrived at the jury duty assembly building on Santa Barbara St to find at least 150 people spilling out onto the sidewalk and grounds. At 8am they call us all inside - standing room only. Everybody's looking around like "What kind of big trial is this?" A women approaches the podium and begins speaking into the microphone:

"Welcome everyone. I have good news and bad news."

"The bad news is that we had a computer glitch last night in our jury notification system and NONE of you were supposed to have been called in. Sorry about that!"

"The good news is that you are all dismissed from jury duty service. Bye!"

You can't make this stuff up!
