Boyz II Men & The Bachelorette
updated: Mar 20, 2014, 10:15 AM

By Lauren Bray

Paseo Nuevo turned into a television shoot on Wednesday afternoon as Boyz II Men performed for an episode of ABC's hit reality dating show "The Bachelorette."

On Tuesday an edhat subscriber broke the news about the event taking place. Producers asked for locals to show up at 3pm at Paseo Nuevo Mall. Being a kid of the 90's and growing up dancing to "Motown Philly" on repeat, I was pretty excited to hear this news. Oh ya and then there is that whole Bachelorette thing to which I admitted in a previous article to watching, unfortunately.

I arrived on Wednesday afternoon to see Paseo Nuevo transformed into a mini concert arena. A stage was set up, barriers were in place, large signs posted with notices of filming, and hundreds of people with their iPhones ready to capture the moment.

Film crews and production people were all over the mall, talking into their ear pieces and setting up cameras. Around 4:45pm Boyz II Men arrived, moving through the crowd seemingly unnoticed. They hopped on stage and sang a few songs from their recent album to a screaming crowd. Just as soon as they were there, they were gone for a wardrobe change and an anticipated arrival of the Andi Dorfman, The Bachelorette.

A crowd quickly gathered on the street where camera men were filming Dorfman awaiting her dates. A man jumped into the circle and handed the Bachelorette a rose made out of balloons which resulted in far too many smiles and hair flicks. Suddenly two limousines pulled up with teams of men dressed in coordinated outfits.

The groups made their way to the stage as Bachelor host Chris Harrison spoke to the crowd. Dorfman was introduced and the men joined her onstage to perform a singing competition of sorts. The song? None other than "I'll Make Love to You," a Boyz II Men classic. In my opinion, nobody won the competition as I didn't hear a single note hit correctly, but it was all in good fun.

The Boyz jumped back on stage to sing a few of their hits, a cappella even, and they've still got it. Check out a few of the videos from subscribers below.

What shocked me the most was how people seemed more excited for Andi Dorfman (The Bachelorette) than Boyz II Men. As one edhat commenter suggested, perhaps the crowd was full of seniors and teens who missed/ignored the 90's.

Edhat subscribers reported that the Bachelorette had a one-on-one date at the Santa Barbara Courthouse and possibly a dinner in the Sunken Garden. Twitter photos also showed dates at Ventura beach. "The Bachelorette" will air on ABC on May 19th, so make sure to watch the episode showcasing our hometown.
