Looking for referrals, comparisons, and comments from parents who have enrolled their elementary age kids into local musical drama summer camps. Thanks.

I highly recommend Stage Left and Showstoppers. My kids have done both and they are very professional and always put on amazing shows. (The only downside is that they can be hard to get into since priority goes to kids who were in the previous year's camp---and they have a very high return rate.)

My daughter enjoyed the Young Singers' Club several years ago. Pretty low pressure atmosphere.

My son did Santa Barbara Summerstock 2 summers in a row. Good cost, wonderful kind & talented directors and the productions were worthy of inviting the grandparents. He did Alice in Wonderland & Lion King. 2 thumbs up.

I did Stage Left for a few years back in the early 00's. It was always a lot of fun, I actually met a few of my good friends there that I'm still friends with today. If they're still running I'd definitely recommend them

My kids love Showstoppers. Great people. The plays are amazing, especially for a 2 week camp for elementary kids. I don't think there is any sort of waiting list for Showstoppers. Stage Left is also good; it's for kids closer to jr high and the plays are sometimes a bit more mature in content.

Are their other camps that the OP wanted comments about?

I don't have any experience with the others but we're already signed up for a third summer of Showstoppers. WONDERFUL shows and just amazing that they can do it all in 2 weeks. Marian and Radu are great! Check out their website and FB page for some good pictures.

Arts at Laguna is a fantastic summer camp. It's the whole package...arts and crafts, drama, and theater in a beautiful environment. We sent our daughter there for many summers, and she had a blast.

My daughter participated in Showstoppers for several summers and went on to become quite a singer and performer at San Marcos. She also went back to help out teaching and producing shows at Showstoppers and is now in College as a dramatic arts major. Showstoppers is a wonderful program and gives the participants a host of personal skills beneficial to them, and not just in performing arts.

Show stoppers is the one I've heard us best. Goleta Valley Junior High has one but my daughter didn't have a good experience there a few years ago as the directors used the students to babysit their young children and all parents had to take turns providing lunch which meant many went skimpy so I had to provide lunch for other kids and pack my own kid a lunch for the times the other parents went cheap.

OP here. Thanks. We've done Summerstock, but their price went up and I'm not wild about the theme. Went to a show by Tada! and it seemed superior but it sounds like it's virtually impossible to get a spot. Looking for other options. My kids are elementary age.
