East Beach Boat Hole
updated: Mar 07, 2014, 10:00 AM

By John Wiley

There were two boats washed up together on East Beach, looking like the ends of two sailing dreams when we flew over after the storm. Then yesterday we saw one boat and this hole with a small black spot in it. The group of people sprinkled around included a news crew, workers, various officials, and maybe owners or observers. There was assorted equipment, piles of boat gear and pieces, and everyone looking busy. Taggers had already decorated the remaining boat. Yet in a few days there may not be any signs of human presence aside from footprints and perhaps some love letters in the sand.
