SYV Woman Sentenced to State Prison

is reporting that Gina Lynn Vrastil, 50 of Santa Ynez, was sentenced to nearly five years in state prison and
taken into custody Monday afternoon at the Santa Maria Court Complex. Vrastil pleaded guilty to
defrauding two Solvang businesses of $45,000.
On December 30, 2013, the Santa Barbara District Attorney had announced that Vrastil pled guilty to 16 Felony
Counts in connection with defrauding two local property management companies. She was charged with
felony theft from an elder, felony perjury, and multiple counts of felony grand theft by embezzlement,
forgery of checks, and preparing false documentary evidence.
An investigation revealed that Vrastil embezzled approximately $45,000.00 by using her position as an
Administrative Assistant with access to the companies' checkbooks and accounting program. She faced up
to a maximum of 9 years 8 months in State Prison.
Santa Ynez Valley News reports that Vrastil is a "career criminal" being convicted of embezzlement
in 1987 and again in 1995 of willful misapplication of bank funds. The judge sentenced Vrastil to four
years and eight months to be served at the Central California Women's Facility outside Chowchilla.
