Watching grade-Z 1950s science fiction movies that I've recorded ("The Blob," "It Came From Beneath the Sea," "Tarantula," "The Creature From the Black Lagoon," etc.), drinking cappuchino and not getting out of my PJs for the entire weekend. Which is why no one's seen me for the last few days. God, I love the rain!

Last Saturday on the one day it did rain when I was home, I watched Nebraska. I had my cat in my lap, my dogs in their beds in the house and a cup of coffee in hand. A wonderful rare moment of relaxation.

Making herbed Kettlecorn. Heat 10" saute pan 3-5 min.(non-teflon) on high before adding 2T.corn oil. Sprinkle 3 t. granulated sugar evenly in pan, let it heat 2 minutes don't stir, then put in lets say 1t. finely chop rosemary then 1/3c. popcorn. This will allow the popcorn to pop faster. Put on lid (glass lid is fun because you can see it pop), shake the pan vigorously every minute or so to keep the unpopped kernles on the bottom. When the popping slows to 10 pops in 20 seconds turn off heat so it doesn't burn. Pour in large bowl, lightly salt. While it's cooling use wood spoons to mix it up & break up the extra crunchy clumps, YUM! Careful the hot sugared kernles can burn you so let it cool a bit. LTBL

162, glad you like it... Who would have thought it's so easy. The use of the saute pan actually distributes the temp. more evenly and there's no burning with nearly all kernels popped if you watch and listen for the pop per seconds, shaking vigorously at the end. Using the corn oil and adding the little bit of salt (probably 1/2t. forgot that measure) actually makes the popcorn taste like it has butter. Very easy but do make sure you don't touch the kernels with bare hands until they're cooler due to the high heat in the sugar. I like to add rosemary just after the popcorn, it gets super crunchy and flavors nicely.
