I heard about this. I live at Hollister/S San Marcos and had no electric problems. Hope everyone else's lights are back on!

I'm Puente & Hollister, thank goodness I use the alarm on my cell phone and not a plugged in one! Power was out at some point during the night but back on this morning.

Transformers blowing up left and right these days. Pretty strange.

There was a few brief strong gusts last night in Patterson area, could be related.

I was driving home around that time (12:30) and I saw a huge flash in the sky in the direction of Goleta, I'm guessing a transformer blew.

SCE told me trees on power lines due to wind.

Power out at Turnpike/Cathedral oaks area at 12:35 a.m. - back on about one hour later.

737 - my experience was the same. My first thought was 'get the gun' - somebody just cut power to my house... oh, wait, I don't have a gun.

Also, the gentlemen at Edison now send tree trimmers once a year to trim our trees on the fence line, directly under the power lines. Not entirely sure why they do it for "free", but I appreciate it.

745, SCE has been doing tree trimming around their poles in our area for years. We really appreciate it too. Saves us the expense.

It probably saves them the expense too if one of them were to cause a massive power outage.

I live between the Wake Center and Cathedral Oaks. The wind was gusting really strongly at the time the power went out. It went out for about a minute or two, came back on and a few minutes later went out again. It was out until 1:35. The wind blew for several hours.

723, I was glad I was awake when it happened because I set my cell alarm then. I don't usually have my cell on at night.

Power out on E. Camino Cielo last night, too.

745 - SCE and PG&E are now pro-active in trimming trees because of past high-visibility lawsuits stemming from large wildfires started from neglected tree trimming along the right-of-way.

I'm near Calle Real and San Marcos.

8:36 is the time on my plug in clock right now. It resets to midnight when power goes out. 10:29 is the time on my cell.

Looks like power was out less than 2 hours. The wind was so loud around 3a that it woke me up.

They trim the trees "free" because professional tree trimmers are forbidden from trimming within a certain distance from electrical lines. So, you can't hire it done yourself and if you see your tree is in the lines OR above the lines and likely to hit the line if it breaks, you need to call Edison. Of course a tree can be far enough away and fall and take the lines with it anyway. SOLUTION: put lines underground. Safer and looks better, too.

They do it for the more affluent areas.

So that explains why all my clocks were blinking "8888" when I got up this morning. Electricity went on almost immediately and has been fine all day. Sure shows us how much we depend on it - I couldn't microwave my bacon this morning!

SCE crews out closing off Lassen Ave at about 7:30. Tree trimming? Anyway, no power outage around Lassen even with the crews out in force.
