Shaka's Been Adopted
updated: Mar 08, 2014, 9:30 AM

Update provided by Julia Di Sieno from the Animal Rescue Team

Our sweet rescued Shaka boy was placed today into his new loving forever home. Our hearts are heavy big guy. You will NEVER be forgotten. So glad our paths crossed 2 months ago, when our volunteers drove over 1,000 miles to save you from the certain death in Phoenix AZ. Thank you Edhat readers for voting Shaka best photo of the day 2 weeks ago.

Below is a note from Shaka's Mom:
We had another great day. He slept soundly in his new crate, is eating well and playing a LOT! Sadly, he ate his boomerang because he loved it so much....we discovered he is not keen on frisbee but ball is a fun new pastime. We have play dates set up with a pitbull puppy, an older lab female and next week, my friend from L.A. is bringing up her shepherd who is close to his age. Yay!!! Here are some pictures for you.

Last month a volunteer drove to Phoenix Arizona to rescue this male pure bred German Shepherd dog from death row. He was an owner surrender. Phoenix allows dogs 72 hours to be placed, rescued or put to sleep.

Shaka has been with our rescue org. for 6 weeks, has had all his shots, and has been altered. We have his entire birth history. Shaka is less than 2 years young. He is wonderful with cats, other dogs, kids, playing fetch, loves car rides and water. He is extremely well trained and obedient. Wish we had more space, we would love keep him.

Please ONLY serious inquires.

Thank you.
