What is up with the old Spirit Land Bistro?
updated: Feb 22, 2014, 7:55 PM

Does anyone know what it up with the old SpiritLand Bistro location at 230 E. Victoria Street? There is a sign in the window but I do not know if it is for lease or for sale, and who the contact might be. Thanks Edhat!

I work nearby. Closed. Up for sale per sign on door. I sometimes see a realtor showing it.

Funny how long the Heideburg Inn stayed in business there.

That'd be a great location for a neighborhood watering hole/cafe, not a high class restaurant. We liked The Heidleburg and William.

The Heidleburg was a charming little restaurant and the German chocolate cake was out of this world. I never went to the "Spirit Land Bistro".

It's in my neighborhood and would love to see a noodle bowl/Pho place go in there. We need more good Asian restaurants.

148 - there is a new Asian style noodle place going into the new SB Market.

Besides there is a Pho place on State and Victoria, just 2 blocks away! Seems like that is "in your neighborhood"...

I agree with 124P. A little pub or cafe there would be great. SICK of high end restaurants in this town. We need more things geared toward our middle class and real families here.

150 - thanks! I didn't know about either. Really looking forward to the new SB Market opening.

I had high hopes for Spirit Land but after one visit I nearly choked from sticker shock. Too bad really.

Don't know if it's the owner who thought more of their food than it was worth or if the cost of doing business in that building forced his/her hand. At the current real estate prices an affordable eatery is not going to generate the kind of margins needed to offset that kind of mortgage or rent to pay that kind of mortgage.

That's a cozy venue.

I'm with 148! I'd love to see a good ramen place come to SB.

This is my neighborhood as well. I'd love to have a place that serves at least beer and wine with great food. German being my first choice. Who doesn't love veal schnitzel w a great German beer. Yum!

I really enjoyed the Heideburg Inn. We went there all the time. The Spirit Land Bistro was not my cup of tea. I guess I just did not get it. This is an ideal place for a restaurant like the Dutch Gardens or Andersen's. A northern European, home style cooking, gathering hole that is welcoming with good food. Or maybe a California cuisine restaurant with burgers, tacos and pizza.
