I love Claudia Ward, LAc, Dipl. Ac, Beyond Acupuncture on Bath (805) 560-9727, or Dr. Kathleen Boisen, OMD, LAc, CH Santa Barbara, CA 805-965-4232, Micheltorena
Both have great disposition and a lot of experience, both are Asian Medicine, they've both helped me.

My uncle had kidney issues and tried everything that Western medicine (Stanford U. Hospital) could offer. He spent several months receiving treatment by a highly respected acupuncturist in San Francisco's Chinatown (Dr. Chun or possibly Chung). My uncle said that "maybe" it helped a little bit, but overall felt he'd wasted his money.

"issues"? ..if you have an infection, DON'T MESS AROUND! A time and a place for Western. Acupunture will NOT cure an infection and you could wind up in Edhat's obituary column

Anthony Kar! Taught at the College of Oriental Medicine, is excellent! He will also tell you if continued treatments are not needed instead of keeping you coming back.

Downtown Community Acupuncture on West Sola. I recommend Jennifer Potthast. She will evaluate the situation and give an opinion as to whether to use acupuncture and/or standard medical treatments. They have a very reasonable sliding scale. Voted Best in Santa Barbara by Independent readers.

Dr. Kathleen Boisen is great, I've used her for years. She was traditionally trained in Europe by old Chinese doctors, and also has degrees in western medicine from European schools. She's at 805 965 7706.

Laurie Counihan Childs has practiced for many years in SB. She will also tell you if other therapy types are needed. She helped found SB Charter School and is on the Board of the birthing center. 682-0123

Another endorsement for Anthony Kar - one of the best health practitioners I've ever met, and I would agree that he will be the first to tell you that further visits aren't needed if they aren't!

Another vote for Laurie Counihan Childs. She also does amazing acupressure. Cured a stress related knot I had under one of my shoulder blades for weeks.

781--how do you know it's stones? Patients with failure must NOT drink too much water! Please don't offer advice like that, without knowing the story. even then please don't. sheesh.
