Anyone else not getting a bill from Goleta Water District?

I called. Automated call said they are having billing problems with the company that sends out the bills. Looking to resolve it soon.

Yep, just received our first one in over a year. Bringing a new billing system on-line messed them up. Or so my wife tells me who called and asked them about it a few months back.

2nd time inside of a year we have gone without a bill for like a 2 month period. Their billing web site is completely screwed up. I don't think they ever caught up when they missed my July bill last year and now we have not had a january or February bill. I guess they must have a lot of cash in the bank to meet payroll and everyday expenses

A private industry computer implementation that is nowhere close to the complexity and size of ACA.

They have been struggling for a year. I recently signed up for a new account to look at the history of my water usage, and there was nothing. No bills, no record, nada.

Possibly that is why they were the lone holdout on an earlier water reduction - there was no way to measure it.

Maybe it's a rehearsal for when they won't have any water to bill for. Hope Goleta is smart enough to put a moratorium on new water meters like Montecito has. Or is "development and growth at any cost" their motto?

Moved into the district 15 months ago. Have received 4 bills, all 6+ weeks in arrears. Did not get the 1st bill until five months after service began. Now I call them every 2 months to get an update The office staff is very nice and they send me a spreadsheet that clearly shows what we have consumed and how much we owe so we can pay on the acct. The staff is doing their best, but whoever in top management approved this outside billing service, and the service itself, should be fired.

Not only is their billing system screwed up, their lack of water conservation incentives is terrible. I pay $65 a month for my meter and about $35 a month for water.

People should be billed primarily on their water usage not their meter size. I am afraid to downsize my meter because we are on a slope.

We also have an acre of land which is always is drought mode even though our HOA likes us to have the property looking like the English countryside. Both the HOAs and Goleta Water district need to get on board with water conservation and provide incentives to save.

Call some construction companies and offer to fill up their water trucks for $25 a pop. Might as well make some bucks off your free water.

Note: Growing rice in your front yard is kind of a red flag.

No bill since December 2012. I gave up on trying to sign up/log in on their website about 6 months ago after spending waaaay too much time trying over the months. Every time I call I'm assured of no late fees and that I should be seeing a bill in the mail next week.
Gonna be a humdinger bill whenever they get their act together!

According to an in depth story in the Independent on Jan. 23, link Goleta should "squeak through for the next two years" without having to declare a drought. Customers, said district manager McGinnes have reduced consumption to one half that of Santa Barbara's level. ...I wonder how he knows?

One year they billed the exact same thing 3 months in a row. a nice even number too.

When I called to inquire why we were billed the same thing those 3 months, we were told it was because we had magically used the exact same amount of water. Only it was in the middle of a rainy winter, we were not watering our veggie garden, we do not have any timers and the bill was higher than our summer usage. They have had the wrong numbers for a long time

it is possible to use approximately the "exact" amount since they measure each HCF = 748 gallons, only increasing the bill at each whole HCF. If you are somewhere between 7 and 8 HCF for example for each of the three months, your bill will be the same. You could've used 7 HCF the first month, 7.2 the next and 7.4 the third month and you still wouldn't have reached the next HCF price point (over 8), since .0 + .2 + .4 does not add up to 1 HCF. Not saying this explains 972's situation, just that it is possible to get the same bill three months in a row.

494988, 494972 - it was explained to me that they round down. Anything between 7 and 7.9 would be 7. And I do not believe that the fractions are added up over time.

I attended several meetings several years ago when they were wildly raising rates primarily based on meter size and not water usage.. It was a waste of time They should be voted out. We should elect officials that reward low water use.

988 must work for the district because that is exactly the answer I got. When I suggested how unlikely it was that our usage was the same and higher than summer, I was told it was our sprinklers on timers. We don't have timers and it was rainy.

We have never gotten another bill for that same amount (Imagine your bill was a even $100 for 3 months in a row-it would stand out)

I check the meter when I see the reader leave and the numbers don't match-but guessing it is because they are so far behind. I am tempted to leave a note under the meter cap and see if the reader moves it.

988 here - I don't work for the district, I just own a home and read my water bill :-) I've had it be the same amount. Not an even cents amount, but the same amount if my usage has been consistently between whole HCFs.

I haven't received a bill in a couple of months as well. It's annoying because I fixed a couple of leaks and have been actively reducing my water consumption due to the drought but have no idea if it's making a difference. It's really unfortunate something as important as water is not managed better by our local government. Clowns in my neighborhood are all watering their lawns as if there is nothing wrong.

I usually call to get the amount of the bill and the due date. This month though, it's still saying I owe $0.00 and I paid it over a month ago. Frustrating indeed.

clowns are probably acting as if nothing is wrong because they "knew" that there would be no state water in an actual drought and yet "we" allowed a lot of building and pools based on this fictional state water. Don't want their water savings used to allow more building without enough water.

I haven't gotten a bill since we bought the house in May 2013. The new billing system errors affect mostly those in a new home after Dec 2012 and is about 1% of their customers. I have called them and they provide estimates of what we owe so we don't get a $2K water bill whenever they figure things out. Bizarre. They can't pay someone to handle 1% of all customers with this problem and send bills? Complete incompetence.

I contacted News Press and independent. Independent did a story based on my tip. I can't post a link to it because I'm not a paying subscriber. But it was Oct 2013 and I think it was called Goleta water district snafu.
