Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Detectives and Santa Maria Police Department Officers are searching for a suspect who may be armed in the Santa Maria area. The suspect, 29-year-old Daniel Arbayo Gil is a documented gang member who fled from Sheriff's Detectives this evening, February 11, when they arrived around 5 p.m. to serve a search warrant at his residence located in the 2400 block of Bentley Avenue in Santa Maria. Gil was the subject of a criminal investigation related to a weapons violation.

When Sheriff's Detectives with the Gang Enforcement Unit arrived to serve the search warrant at his residence, they discovered Gil standing in the roadway in front of his home. When they attempted to make contact with him, he ran inside the residence. Before Sheriff's Detectives and Santa Maria Police Department Officers were able to fully contain the home, Gil escaped out the rear of the residence and is believed to have fled toward Blosser Avenue.

Gil is a Hispanic male, approximately 6'2" tall and weighs about 230 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing grey sweatpants and no shirt or shoes. The Sheriff's Office wants to warn residents that Gil may be armed and is considered dangerous. If you see him, you are cautioned not to make contact with him but rather to call 911 immediately. To leave an anonymous tip on his whereabouts, call 805-681-4171.
