Milpas and Canon Perdido Building
updated: Feb 10, 2014, 2:00 PM

By Edhat Subscriber

Does anyone know what is going on with the old mcConnell's dairy on Milpas and Canon Perdido? is has been closed (last occupance was a BBQ joint, I believe) and fallen into disrepair over the last few years. The deck was gutted, then left untouched for months. Now, the work seems to have started up again. Does anyone know what is going on? Is a new business going in?

It's going to be a restaurant called Sublime. Owned by Brent Thompson. They have applied for a liquor license.

Wonder if the patio will be replaced - outdoor dining is appreciated here. Wishing the new restaurant well - can't recall how long ago when the last restaurant there was open and good for more than a couple years.

Smart thing to put in there would be some sort of snack food/quick service deli place for the High School crowd. But first ask Home Improvement Center on tips for camera security.

Milpas area has been popping off lately - lots of good restaurants and the like - glad to see someone is moving in there.

You can't find a place to park there now, how could a restaurant WITH A LIQUOR LICENSE even survive there unless it's a walk-to-dinner for the most part.

Pre-concert dining for the Bowl-goers, for one. I sometimes have a delicious pizza at Sal's, also on Milpas/Canon Perdido, before walking to a concert up the street. A crowd always manages to get into Los Agaves on Milpas and Cota somehow, though they have a tiny parking lot.

Apparently not very motivated... Mr. Thompson has leased prop for several years and still has not opened.
