Gym Shower
updated: Feb 07, 2014, 12:04 PM

By Edhat Subscriber

I pay over $60 dollars a month to use a local gym shower. Long story short I work out at another gym that doesn't have one and don't want to drive back down south when I work in SB. Does anyone know where I can do the shower cheaper?

The YMCA offers full use of the facility for 60 bucks, with showers of course.

I don't know, but this is a great question, and I look forward to the answers. I've done a lot of camping and traveling in remote areas, and had to resort to truck stops to pay for showers. The cost of a shower has become insane ($10!).

If some of the temporarily, unfortunately homeless (not the ones with attitudes) had access to a small amount of secure storage (for clothes and personal items), to showers, and to toilet facilities, I'm sure they'd have an easier time emerging from homelessness. This issue impacts residents of motor homes, boat residents, campers, people whose baths are being remodeled, etc.

I used to go to the Carrillo Rec center, and the Bath house I cannot remember how much it was though..

Try the Cabrillo Bathouse and Gym. Right on the beach!
4.00 per day or they have multi-day passes.

Not sure if you want to join another gym or switch but Key2Fitness has showers and their memberships are between $30-40/mo.

Do you have friends or acquaintances who work nearby in Santa Barbara? Perhaps they have access to shower facilities through their place of business that you could arrange to use.

Bikestation downtown has showers available and I think it is less than $100 for the whole year.

Good question...with having to reduce water usage 20% "voluntarily" I suspect a lot of us are going to be showering at a gym, and doing clothes at a laundromat, too.

You tell em 075. And to answer the question, it sounds like you might already be a member of the ymca or something similar so why not start using the rest of the gym and the showers and get your 60 bucks worth, that's actually not a bad price.

Shower at the SB Rescue Mission. But you have to say your prayers to stay there....

011 and 075

I think that 011 and 075 have good points...If you have already reduced your water use to the bare minimum, it might be hard to cut yet another 20% out.

Maybe the total use should be considered in the 20% reduction request.

If you park outside the gate, you can walk in and use the showers at Carp beach. Bring quarters and flip flops.

If there are sinks and soap dispensers -- or bring your own soap -- you can do the old-fashioned standing washcloth and towel 'shower' - should get you through the day.
