Goleta Drainage Improvement
updated: Feb 07, 2014, 10:14 AM

Source: Caltrans

A project to improve the capacity of two large drainage culverts located along Las Vegas Creek and San Pedro Creek at U.S. Highway 101 near Fairview Avenue in Goleta will begin next week, weather permitting.

The southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 101 will be re-striped near Fairview Avenue during the overnight hours on Monday, Feb. 10 from 9 pm to 6 am. The installation of protective barrier for highway workers will be installed during the overnight hours on Tuesday, Feb. 11 from 9 pm to 6 am.

This project will increase the water capacity and prevent flooding north of Calle Real and U.S. Highway 101. It will also include reconstructing the U.S. 101 southbound off-ramp at Fairview Avenue.

Caltrans is the lead agency for this project, in partnership with the Santa Barbara County Flood Control District and with support from the City of Goleta.

The contractor for this $16.6 million project is Flatiron West Incorporated of San Marcos, CA. This project is expected to be completed in 2017. As part of the City of Goleta's Los Carneros Overhead Bridge Replacement project, the southbound Hwy. 101 on/off ramps at Los Carneros Road will be closed for one year beginning Monday, Feb. 17. Motorists can use Storke Road or Fairview Avenue to access businesses, the Santa Barbara Regional Airport and UCSB. For more information on this project, visit: http://www.loscarnerosbridgeproject.com/

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
