When Will Deckers Open?
updated: Feb 06, 2014, 9:23 AM

By Tammy

Can any of the Decker folks tell us when the store part of their new facility will open?

A goleta shoe-shopper wants to know...

Curious to know why UGGs are still so expensive despite having been made in China for years now.

Anyone?

Supply and demand. If people pay high prices for something then why lower the price? As charity?

493 - The price of wool had gone up dramatically in the last few years due to the weather situation in Australia/New Zealand and an increase in demand for the fiber.

How 'bout the big TEVA truck that parks on the street in Goleta neighborhood?

Decker shoe products are fine. Yes, Uggs Australia as name is deceptive when the shoes are made in China.
The Australia part is prominent in the packaging, the made in China not. Would sure be wonderful if Deckers sponsored the Big Dog Parade again. Miss it a lot; would always make sure my schedule would have me in town for this happiest day of the year.

Fighting for the trademark Uggs "Australia" is an example of American corporatist hardball and not pretty - the Monsanto of shoes. Ask any of the sheepskin boot makers actually still trying to produce quality uggs in Oz/NZ instead of off-shoring the work to Chinese contractors for second and third-rate work at ridiculous prices. Everybody here applauds Deckers as a great Goleta citizen, but that's not a universally held sentiment.

Longtime Deckers employee here and I'm thankful that Deckers decided to stay local, allowing me to continue to work for a great company! OP - the store will be opening in a few weeks.

I was over there recently helping a worker with his car - he said the store will be open in early March. Welcome to North Goleta Deckers - glad to have you here.

Were all those super-bright signs necessary? What is this, Orange County?

739 - they are in Goleta not Santa Barbara. We like our signs big and bright - that area is for manufacturing and technology companies - if you don't like them, don't look at them. Wait till you see what happens next.....

Not at all happy with the building on that site, especially considering all the empty places across the street. The water feature has been running - is that a good idea when we are in a drought (yes, there is water loss by evaporation). I find the development there repulsive and will not spend a dollar at any of the venues.

Really,Do people have nothing to do but obsess about bright signs,TEVA trucks etc. The local economy is so
lucky to have had this great company stay local instead of moving to Texas like so many other local companies have done. The building is beautiful and a great pleasure to drive by daily. Welcome Deckers to your new home.

Designed in USA, materials from Australia/New Zealand, manufactured in China/Asia, shipped using global carriers, distributed throughout the world by American, Japanese, and European distributors, sold by local franchisees and shoe stores everywhere....hmmm, sounds like many successful products including iPhones, Prius cars, Flat Screen TV's, clothing...etc...
Wats the big deal? I own several pairs of Deckers shoes from 3 of their brands and find them well made and comfortable.
Like others here said: Welcome to Your new headquarters, Deckers! We are very glad you are here! :)

I googled "made in USA sheepskin slippers" and bought them, even though I could have gotten UGHs at a discount through a friend who owns a shoe store. I buy American whenever I can.

Parking a large commercial truck in a residential neighborhood is not yanking. It brings property values down, and also destroys pavement. I do not believe that those large truck are allowed on the smaller streets. I would report them.

Feb 7 NY Post Page 6 headline calls it "appalling" that Ugg Australia gifted boots to celebs in hopes they'd be seen at Philip Seymour Hoffman's memorial service because of the bad weather - real classy attempt at product placement for their Chinese-made schlock.
