Arrowhead Dealer Show
updated: Feb 03, 2014, 8:19 AM

Is there a local dealer show buys and sells indian arrowheads?

There's a guy who frequents Wilcox who finds them out there. He likes to film stuff and has a black dog that chews on stuff. I think he surfs and wears arrows around his neck ala Greg Brady and the Hawaiian Tiki episode.

I thought it was illegal to have arrowheads?

It is not illegal to have arrowheads, but you can't just go digging up the ground wherever you want to search for them. There's no humor in referring to two very proud, distinct cultures as "casino" and "computer" Indians. Too many COEXIST people in Santa Barbara and not enough people coexisting. Please, live in harmony with each other and nature and the world will be a better place....and it all starts at home. Namaste.

I do not know of a local dealer but you might try the next arms and blades show that comes to Earl Warren or Ventura County fairgrounds. The gem and mineral shows may be another source. Good luck!

Check ebay - the economy is so bad now that the market for collectibles really has collapsed - great artifacts that used to sell for high prices can hardly be given away now.

Haha classic I am the guy with the black dog, aka Woody the dog, ran for city council.... Anyway I only found 1 ever. I don't FIND them out there. Just one once. I wasn't digging for them it was exposed in the path, I picked it up. FYI.

I have an arrow club. We have hats and scarves too. We know when to get it on and point at stuff. We mostly use our fingers. But one time a guy wore a shirt that had an arrow that pointed towards me but only because I was standing next to him. When I moved, it pointed at another guy which I thought was weird. That made two of us dummies. I like arrows though. They are a sharp tool in an otherwise dull shed.

We have a nice bunch of arrowheads that we bought in Sedona 20 years ago and I was just trying to see if there was any market for them here.
Thanks for your comments.

I will take this opportunity to implore folks, as tempting as it is, to NOT collect arrowheads or any other artifacts. Instead, note the location and contact the local archaeologists at UCSB anthropology department. There is a lot of information that gets lost (provenience) when things like this are picked up.
