A tasty complement to the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) is the Film Feast that is in process, and it includes 35 restaurants and tasting rooms offering innovative menus from January 30 through February 9.

The "Screen Cuisine" films at SBIFF is in its third year, and is a popular series celebrating culinary cinema. This year spotlights eight films with two World Premieres and three U.S. Premieres that include the story of a hot dog street vendor trying to make it in Washington D.C with no previous food service experience (Dog Days); a son reconnecting with his father after 10 years to try and save the family restaurant (Cesar's Grill); and the small town of Dublin, Texas continuing to produce Dr. Pepper with pure cane sugar even as the soda industry switched to High Fructose Corn Syrup (Bottled Up: The Battle Over Dublin Dr. Pepper) as well as entertaining cuisine related shorts.

In honor of Oprah Winfrey receiving The Montecito Award, Opal Restaurant & Bar on State Street has created a special menu and a colorful cocktail named "Oprah's Legend." The Bistro 1111 in the Hyatt Hotel is offering The Color Purple menu of buttermilk fried chicken and gravy with collard greens, black eyed peas, and smashed yams.

In honor of Sideway's 10th anniversary, Arlington Tavern paid homage to the film by creating a delicious three course menu inspired by the film. Chef Ron True and the Arlington Team are serving Mac & Cheese with Kalyra Sauvignon Blanc, Fried Chicken with Flor De Campo Pinot Noir and Persimmon Pudding Cake with Storm Sauvignon Blanc to hungry film goers during the festival.

"SOMM II: The Sequel" - SOMM movie talent Brian McClintic and the Les Marchands team guide guests through a blind tasting in accordance with the movie. Les Marchands Pork Rillettes with crostini and mustard is an outstanding small plate with a glass of their Vallin rose wine.

Film Feast's prix fixe menu's, tasting flights and lodging packages were developed by www.SBFilmFeast.com. Go to their site for a complete list of Santa Barbara businesses participating. Visit: www.sbiff.org for festival film information. Bon Appetit!
