TV Wall Mount and Wiring
updated: Jan 25, 2014, 11:45 AM

We need a tradesperson who can install a wall mount for a flat screen television (we have the hardware) and to run cabling to the wall behind that location and install an outlet there. Any Edhatters know a reliable person for the job?

Ranch Hands, http://www.ranchhandssyv.com/our-services/.

We've recently used them for a few small odd jobs around our place and have been very satisfied with their work and professionalism. We live in Noleta and they've come to us as scheduled and on time for each job.

It is pretty easy. Look up on youtube how to do it.

Yep, that sounds pretty easy. Find a couple studs to put the screws into. Probably ought to use #12 screws to hold the weight. The wiring could get a little tricky if you want to hide the wires. It is easy to just tack them on top of the wallboard. The might need to run conduit if power to the outlet is on the surface. It is a lot neater to run the wires under to wallboard. Patching plaster is available at any local hardware store. Most of the paint store are good at color matching.

204P - thanks for the reference. What do they charge for the small handyman type jobs? I have a couple of projects....

So funny when you super handy guys/gals come on and say "Do it yourself." I know a guy whose Dad can fix ANYTHING. My friend, though, doesn't know the business end of a screwdriver. Not everyone can DIY.

Danny Molina, (805) 705-9999 installed and hung 2 big TV's for us . He's a licensed contractor so when he puts in that outlet, it is done in a legal and safe manner. I'd be afraid to have a handyperson put in a new electrical outlet.
