Dog On Freeway
updated: Jan 24, 2014, 4:56 PM

Today around 1 PM while dining at Stella Mare by the Bird Refuge, we saw a dog heading for the freeway exit and he did in fact enter the freeway heading north. I jumped in my car and went to Milpas and got on the Freeway heading south. Sure enough, he was walking towards the traffic and the dog catchers were out trying to catch him. I was so proud of the people of Santa Barbara who had come to a complete stop on the freeway! I was able to slowly approach the dog in my car with my lights flashing and got him to turn around and go back towards the dog catchers. He ran past them and then out the exit past Stella Mare and crossed Cabrillo. I saw the dog catchers 15 minutes later sitting in front of a home and they were able to catch him and return to the owner. People, PLEASE check your gate, doors, etc. so this does not happen. This could have resulted in an awful accident. Animal control did a great job!
