Rincon Classic - Day 1
updated: Jan 18, 2014, 6:00 PM

By David Powdrell

Day one of the Rincon Classic surfing contest couldn't have been better. Air temp: 70 degrees. No wind. Surf conditions: Pure glass, aquamarine water color, sweet little swell and an amazing array of local surf stars in the water. If Chris Keet, the event organizer, was an Olympic gymnast, he stuck his landing once again.

The event celebrates not only surfers, but also their families. It also promotes doing good things to protect the ocean and the lifestyle of those that spend time in and near the ocean. Kudos to all the homeowners along Rincon Point that support and embrace this annual event.

The good news is that the swell is supposed to be building; Sunday could be epic Rincon. Get down there if you can; I think you'll be glad you did.

I'll let my photos tell the story of day one of the 31st Annual Rincon Classic.
